Vegan oatmeal raisin cookies

When i think about cookies i usually think of chocolate chip cookies – you can’t deny that they are the best type of cookie! I am not sure whether i like the cookie dough or the baked cookie best… and the benefit of vegan cookies is that you can eat them raw without the risk of salmonella (Though, if you are using flour in your cookies i wouldn’t recommend eating the cookie dough raw as there is risk of getting sick/bacteria from uncooked flour – just a FYI, as this is something i recently learnt!).


However, every once in a while i get a craving for another type of cookie such as white chocolate macadamia, snicker doodle, peanut butter or oatmeal raisin! If i am honest i can’t remember the last time i ate an oatmeal raisin cookie – because let’s be honest, when you want a cookie you want one that has chocolate and sugar and the first choice isn’t a “healthy” cookie, according to me anyway. There are many different ways you can make oatmeal raisin cookies, example you can make the simple version of just oats, banana and raisins – mix together and into the oven. However i decided to make cookies that required a few more ingredients than just those 3!

The cookies turned out extremely good and half of them are already gone – and they are a great snack for my long days of studying and lectures!



C.a 170g vegan margarine (you can most likely swap for coconut oil, however i can’t guarantee the results)

1dl sugar/sweetener (c.a90-100g)

c.a 1,5tsp vanilla sugar (Or vanilla stevia drops)

C.a 150ml non dairy milk

2dl flour (c.a 120-130g) (Can most likely switch to gluten free flour)

c.a 250g rolled oats

1/2 tsp baking powder

Pinch of salt

Raisins – as much as you like. (Can also add walnuts if desired!)
Cinnamon for taste * optional

How to:

Heat the oven to c.a 175degrees celsius.

In a bowl mix/beat together the margarine & sugar/sweetener and vanilla sugar until light and fluffy. Then add the non dairy milk.

In a bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, salt and oats (and cinnamon if using).

Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined. Add the raisins (and chopped walnuts if using). The dough should be thick.

Form into small balls, pressing down slightly and place on 1-2 baking trays. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes. Let the cookies cool before eating as they will still be soft when they come out of the oven!

Eat and enjoy with a glass of non dairy milk!

    Do you know clif bars? They are super delicious and vegan and there is one flavour, oatmeal raisin walnut which tastes soooo damn good. But I can also recommend the other flavous, especially penut crunch. If you don’t know them you should really try them😊


  2. I didn’t know you could get sick through eating uncooked flour! After I read this I thought back to all the times my mum used to give me the bowl from her cooking if she was making a cake/biscuits so I could scrape the remaining mix out to eat! I don`t remember ever getting ill, but maybe its just that you have to be more careful these days?
    I love raisin cookies AND chocolate chip ones so could quite happily eat either 🙂

    hi, i’ve seen your questions on IG, if you still need the answer: I cannot go vegan right now become I’m in a stage of recovery. my family also doesn’t allow me to cut meat, dairy, eggs (I’ve hated meat since I was a child and dairy makes me sick). so yes when I’ll be finally on my healthy weight I guess I’ll be able to listen to my body and eat what my body really needs. and it also keeps me back that I don’t have lots of knowledge. so I have to be more educated to make a change. hope it helps xoxo
