General life update – stress/anxiety/food

Hello and good morning!!

I have been trying to write an update post or just a general post for a while now but the words seem to be stuck in my head and i can’t quite seem to formulate myself into written words. Not to mention don’t really know what to write about either, haha. Just felt like i should add something more personal/lifestyle related rather than just food and recipes…. even if i have a few more recipes to share!

For all of you who follow me on Instagram you know i eat mostly “Ingredients” and don’t really cook actual meals, but these past few days i have cooked several dishes and it is kind of nice to eat an actual cooked dish and not just “ingredients.” Of course it also takes more time and does cost more, but every once in a while i might actually cook an actual recipe!! Of course the recipes for these dishes will be posted within the next week – trying to space them out so that you don’t get a recipe each day and then no posts at all for a week, haha.

It’s Thursday and i now have a week “free” from school, which means finishing my project and sending in as well as studying for a test. So for once, i am not feeling so stressed about school work. I feel like i have time to get everything i want to done!

What about stress and anxiety?ย Since listening to a stresspodcast and trying to take some time to meditate and mentally rest each day i have noticed a huge difference. Not just in anxiety, restlessness and sleeplessness but also feeling more rested and more energy. Also not as much stomach pain…. so i am thinking atleast some of the stomach pain was stress/anxiety related. As mentioned in a previous post, i constantly have the feeling that “there isn’t enough time” so i am working on reminding myself that there is enough time – also that the work i do each day is good enough.


Stress and anxiety are the worst for your body and health – both physically and mentally. It affects your sleep, hormones, hunger, mood, energy levels and so much else. But taking time to rest and mentally rest each day is definitely making a difference.

The thing with stress is that you most often don’t realise you are stressed… it becomes and inner stress and anxiety and that just sort of becomes your “normal feeling”. I.e constantly feeling tired, constantly feeling low on energy, anxious, stomach problems, feeling negative…. that just sort of becomes normal and you don’t really question what it could be until you begin to analyse what is causing you to feel that way. When you can step outside of the box and realise somethingย  needs to change and actually make a change you can realise just how you were feeling/what you were feeling wasn’t normal. Not to say that i am completely free from stress or anxiety within just a week…. but i am feeling a little better!


I don’t have much of a life update as there isn’t much happening in my life…. or well, nothing i plan to share on here anyway, haha.

  1. Good to hear you are beginning to feel better – that you have managed to make changes and they have begun to make a difference ๐Ÿ™‚
    Are all your study books/lectures in Swedish? Do you not find it confusing swapping from English to Swedish?


    1. Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ Some of our books are in english but almost all our lectures are in Swedish! I don’t find it so difficult, just when there are certain nutrition/physiology terms which you read in english and then have to translate it to Swedish for essays or presentations. So sometimes i ask to write my essays in english as i find it easier. ๐Ÿ™‚


  2. I really admire that you have full use of two languages! They tried to teach me French in school but I could never get the hang of it ๐Ÿ™‚
    Have you any interest in learning another?


    1. Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ I would love to learn more languages! I did learn some french in school as well as irish (gaelic) but it quickly disapppeared when i no longer studied it. It would be amazing to learn to speak french and italian fluently, however i have more of a maths brain rather than a linguistic brain haha. ๐Ÿ™‚


  3. I read recently that ginger is supposed to be good for alleviating stress and anxiety – either drinking it as a “tea” or making something like ginger and potato soup. It promotes the “feel good” endorphins in the brain and creates a feeling of calm.
    Just thought it might be worth mentioning ๐Ÿ™‚
