A while ago i attempted to make orange chicken with home made seitan. And the recipe didn’t really turn out as expected… i guess that’s what happens when you use orange juice from concentrate and not a real orange, but also use a little too much ginger. Safe to say it wasn’t really a recipe i wanted to share.
^^This was last time i made it… and it turned out lighter in colour compared to this time, which i prefer… but it didn’t taste as good, haha.
But a few weeks later, using the last of the vital wheat gluten i had at home i decided to attempt this recipe again, And this time it turned out alot better!! Less ginger and using real oranges! The only thing i would want to change is to use a lighter soy sauce as i feel like the soy sauce made the sauce a little too brown for my liking, also i would add some chilli if you have at home!
This recipe does take some prep time, i .e the seitan takes about 2-3 hours to make. Recipe HERE. And making this sauce requires some marination time i.e 1 hour, so give yourself some time or prep time before you actually make this recipe. I.e maybe you make the seitan the day efore and marinate the seitan 1-2 hours before you actually fry and cook the food 🙂 But it is worth it, i promise!!!
